Re: item has no metadata. |
are you "akb"?
maybe you're not the person who originally uploaded the item (and thus you don't have permissions to edit it)?

Re: item has no metadata. |
ummmmmm....
i think i see what happened....
did you copy the _meta.xml from the other version
into your item?
if so, that's um, not a good thing to do because it's got the wrong identifier in it, etc...
i'm going to more or less "empty" the _meta.xml contents on disk, and then you should be able to edit it to what you like.
(so please don't copy _meta.xml files in the future -- if you don't upload one with your item at time of creation, that's just fine/normal. we'll start out a "nearly empty" one for you that you can then update accordingly.)

Re: item has no metadata. |
Tracey - I think there's a bug with items that have multiple '.' characters in their name, in which sometimes, when the items is imported, the characters after the final '.' are removed from the item identifier, despite the fact the directory has not been renamed by the user, and everything gets royally messed up.
I'm guessing that's what happened in this case? I've reported it before but it's a pretty damn obscure bug.

Re: item has no metadata. |
i used the cc uploader for my last two uploads and everything seems to be ok with those uploads ..
maybe it was because i`ve used an ftp client for that (messed up) upload

Re: item has no metadata. |
hi simon and k-otic,
ok, here's the dealie, though.
if i put on my "sherlock" hat, it would *appear* to me that k-otic is trying to upload a different version of a movie as better quality and thus it is a new item. however, k-otic might have copied the other item's XML instead of creating it themself??
so simon, while what you are saying is likely true, i'm not 100% sure it applies here?
further, "replacing a movie" right now isn't working now, so a new item needs to be made...

Re: item has no metadata. |
Oh, I think you might be right. Or at least, I'm a bit confused too :)
Thanks for uploading these PD war movies, by the way, K-Otic! We'll try to get the better-looking version of Battle Of Midway online soon.

Re: item has no metadata. |
You`r right, it is possible that i upload the wrong xml files with my video :(
i indeed did download the xml files from the other version of the video to see how they have to look like.
nice work on this case mrs "holmes" :)
and thanks to both of you for all the work/time you put in this messed up upload..
